Finite-Length Scaling and Finite-Length Shift for Low-Density Parity-Check Codes

چکیده
Consider communication over the binary erasure channel BEC(ǫ) using random low-density parity-check codes with finite-blocklength n from ‘standard’ ensembles. We show that large error events is conveniently described within a scaling theory, and explain how to estimate heuristically their effect. Among other quantities, we consider the finite length threshold ǫ∗(n), defined by requiring a block error probability PB = 1/2. For ensembles with minimum variable degree larger than two, the following expression is argued to hold ǫ(n) = ǫ − ǫ1 n +Θ(n) , with a calculable shift parameter ǫ1 > 0.

Notes: Finite-length Protograph-based Spatially Coupled LDPC Codes
The finite-length performance of multi-edge spatially coupled low-density parity-check (SC-LDPC) codes is analyzed over the binary erasure channel (BEC). Existing scaling laws are extended to arbitrary protograph base matrices including puncturing patterns and multiple edges between nodes. Compared to more involved rate-1/2 structures proposed to improve the threshold to minimum distance trade-...
متن کاملComputation of Grobner Basis for Systematic Encoding of Generalized Quasi-Cyclic Codes
Generalized quasi-cyclic (GQC) codes form a wide and useful class of linear codes that includes thoroughly quasi-cyclic codes, finite geometry (FG) low density parity check (LDPC) codes, and Hermitian codes. Although it is known that the systematic encoding of GQC codes is equivalent to the division algorithm in the theory of Gröbner basis of modules, there has been no algorithm that computes G...
متن کاملConvergence of Sum-Product Algorithm for Finite Length Low-Density Parity-Check Codes
The convergence behavior of an iterative decoder for low-density parity-check codes is investigated. The influence of finite length codes containing cycles in the factor graph is considered and different types of decoding errors are identified and classified.
متن کاملFinite-length analysis of low-density parity-check codes on the binary erasure channel
In this paper, we are concerned with the finite-length analysis of low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes when used over the binary erasure channel (BEC). The main result is an expression for the exact average bit and block erasure probability for a given regular ensemble of LDPC codes when decoded iteratively. We also give expressions for upper bounds on the average bit and block erasure probab...
متن کاملOverlapped Circular SC-LDPC Codes and Their Modified Coupled Codes
In this paper, overlapped circular spatially-coupled low-density parity-check codes (OC-LDPC) are proposed and their modified coupled codes are derived, which show better performance compared with the spatially-coupled low-density parity-check (SC-LDPC) codes. It is known that the SC-LDPC codes show asymptotically good performance when the chain length is sufficiently large. However, a large ch...
